About this deal

I hear her words in my head when I want to keep something “just in case…” but it really does feel so good to let your stuff go and live more simply. Much if it common sense but lots of useful and practical tips especially for those with busy lives and limited space. For anyone who has already done this in their home, there is not much in there that you don't already know. I’ve seen it again and again in my years helping clients all over the world edit and organize their homes.

The classic ethos of minimalism taught me so much about paring down my belongings and living a life based on experiences rather than material things.Because of these two opposing truths, I’ve found a way of streamlining and simplifying my cleaning routine to make it feel easy-breezy. Even early on, when resources were tight, maintaining an organized, stylish, and comfortable home was always a priority.

All in all I thought this was mostly common sense advice but it was a quick read and we’ll benefit from it. I’m on my own journey of minimising my possessions (not becoming a minimalist), I have been for a while.I was just having a conversation with a friend about how minimizing and she asked me, “well what do you do about all of your kids stuff?

Since founding my business, I’ve coached families and individuals from coast to coast, helping them create streamlined, personalized homes that support their values and priorities. Not all of the suggestions really applied to me but I got more out of this book than of all the others on the same subject. I used to think I needed a bigger house for my husband and 4 kids but after becoming a minimalist, I realized I could CREATE more space by simply eliminating STUFF in the home I already lived in.A step-by-step guide to designing a better home, wardrobe and life, Shira Gill’s book delivers its minimalist manifesto with plenty of practical advice for making it a reality in your home. When other moms asked how I got by without “all of the things,” I showed them, and that’s how my business was born. Elevate your personal style, trim your belongings, and transform your life, one room at a time, with this visionary lifestyle book from organising expert, Shira Gill. And you can still have a capsule wardrobe even if you’re using plastic Target hangers that once lived in your dorm room. Over the past decade, she has helped thousands of people around the world reduce clutter and create more space for what matters.

She also constantly goes on about recycling things and not sending stuff to landfill EVERY SINGLE TIME getting rid of something is mentioned. This made me happy because most organizing type of books are coming from a perspective of huge amazing closets that I simply do no have! I am by no means a minimalist nor do I aspire to be (it is so often white and sterile and lacking in books) but I have felt overwhelmed by clutter and this book has given me so much help and guidance to pare things down and create spaces that serve who I am now and the direction I want to go in.
